Eastern Equatoria State County Commissioners were told to inform citizens on the consequences of the oil shutdown in the economy.

Governor Louis Lobong Lojore tasked commissioners to organize rallies to update the public and the organized forces about austerity measures.

He said citizens should bear with lack of or salary cuts because they supported the oil shutdown.

Mr Lobong advised the commissioners to make good use of the local revenues and encourage the community to engage on agriculture to boost the economy of the state.

He appealed to the county commissioners to open adult schools in their areas.

He told local chiefs to join adult education and be able to read and write by 2015.

Governor Lobong made the call at the end of a two-day Commissioners Forum on Friday in Torit.
