The Word of God is critical for the perseverance of Christians, leaders and faithful alike, in their journey towards Jesus Christ.
Roko Taban, apostolic administrator of Malakal Catholic Diocese, told the participants at the South Sudan and Sudan Catholic Bishops’ plenary in Saturday’s mass that the Word of God gives direction, hope and perseverance to the believers.He said Church leaders have to be shaped by the Word of God in order to guide the faithful in their journey toward Christ.
Monsignor Roko underlined that the Church leaders should be channels of God’s love, reconciliation and forgiveness.
He added that they should guide the people of God to discover the meaning of their life through the Word of God and persevere in their relationship with Christ.
Monsignor Roko said perseverance was a key element for Christians to overcome the temptations that lay along the path that leads to Jesus.
He prayed for the Spirit of the Lord to assist the Church leaders to embrace the Word of God with determination and guide the faithful to enjoy the blessedness of God’s kingdom.
The bishops and heads of diocese of South Sudan and Sudan are on their fourth day of plenary. They concluded the issue of the Major Seminary and started discussing the establishment of a General Secretariat for the bishops’ conference.
