A South Sudanese acclaimed international hip hop artist called for grassroots responsibility to address the issues of corruption in the country.

Emmanuel Jal gave a press conference in Juba on Wednesday to present the upcoming events of We Want Peace Campaign in Juba.

He said the leaders of South Sudan reflect its society.

The singer explained that relatives put huge pressure on civil servants who many times have to steal public property to meet expatiations and demands for money and other assistance.

Mr Jal said if the people want South Sudan to move forward they have to ask themselves what they contribute to the country.

He said he wanted from the Government security and freedom in order to be able to do his work without being mugged again.

Mr Jal said citizens had to use the vote during elections to express their frustration with the Government and not other means.
