The Speaker of the National Legislative Assembly called on the students of the University of Juba to “burry tribalism” and fight corruption.

James Wani Igga made the call on Friday during a public lecture at the University of Juba on political development in South Sudan.

He told students that the clashes that led to the closure of the University were a big shame.

Mr Wani urged the students to burry tribalism or else the tribalism will take South Sudan to oblivion.

He said the students should be united and work together.

The Speaker blamed the issue of tribalism on a wrong education system that kept students in their own areas until they reached university and it made it difficult to relate with colleagues from other communities.

Mr Wani explained that he organized a series of lectures at the university to encourage the students to start clubs to be funded by the parliament to fight corruption.

He added that he would like to see youths, women and students form clubs to report cases of corruption to the Commission.
