Nuba Mountains rebels claimed that they captured Ajar Adoum, a strategic town between Talodi and Abujibeya that was under Government control.

Ajar Adoum is located near Kalogi, in South Eastern Nuba Mountains.

Abujibeya County Commissioner Musa Kocho Ngattu said the area was a strategic stronghold for the Sudanese army supplying Talodi, Mureny and Liri areas.

He added that last Friday SPLA-North forces took full control over the area after more than three hours of heavy fighting.

Mr Kocho said at least 42 government troops were killed and dozens more wounded in the attack.

He added that the rebels took 35 government armed civilians, looted thousands of cattle and burned the town to ashes.

On the SPLA-North side, seven soldiers were killed and 13 wounded.

Mr Kocho explained that the captured civilians were brought by fighters to SPLA-North bases in order to prevent them to cause insecurity in the area.

The Commissioner prayed for the eternal rest of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the marginalized Sudanese people.

CRN was unable to verify independently the claims.
