South Sudan’s annual inflation rates kept falling in August following the trend of the past three months.

The National Bureau of Statistics said in its website that August’s annual inflation rate fell to 43.3 percent down from 60.9 of July.

By capitals, the annual inflation rate increased 38.1 percent in Wau, 42.6 percent in Juba and 43.9 percent in Malakal from August 2011 to August 2012.

Between July and August the prices went up 0.7 percent in Wau, 2.7 percent in Malakal and 3.0 percent in Juba.

By items, food, drinks, tobacco and household equipments are cheaper. Health, restaurants and hotels, housing and water are more expensive.

The prices for housing and water went up almost 31 percent between July and August.

Wau, the capital of Western Bahr El Ghazal, is the cheapest city in South Sudan while Malakal, in Upper Nile, is the most expensive.
