Undersecretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mining has denied that the shortage of fuel in South Sudan is due to the ministerial order No. 16/2012.

Macar Aciek Ader said the current shortage has to do with offloading and pumping from Kenya.

Mr Aciek revealed that fuel tanks loaded by Nilepet will arrive in Juba on Monday and more will arrive on Tuesday, carrying at least 10-20 million litters of both diesel and petrol.

He said the shortage will reduce throughout the country very soon

The ministry disclosed plans of constructing big fuel storage facilities in the major towns of South Sudan to address the scarcity and establish mini refineries for local demand.

It further revealed a broader plan to have the first domestically refined product available in the market by June 2013.
