A cleric from the diocese of Torit living in Italy for the last 20 years said the outcome of peace between Sudan and South Sudan is a tangible reality.
Mark Opere Omol is the representative of Torit Diocese in Europe. He told Bakhita Radio before he returned to Rome this morning that South Sudan’s struggle was not in vain because there are signs of peace and development in the new nation.He added that although the process of development is slow, there are concrete signs of progress.
The priest said he was surprised with the fruits of peace, including new buildings and other infrastructure and many cars on tarmac streets.
Fr Opere called on all people of South Sudan to join hands to shape and development the new nation.
He said South Sudan is one-year old and it is growing with some difficulties like a small child.
He asserted the importance of involving the youth in the process of nation building.
Fr Opere has been living outside South Sudan for the last 20 years.
He returned to Rome today after spending some weeks in South Sudan.
