Central Equatoria members of parliament said there is a need to reject the centralization of revenue collection in South Sudan.

The Assembly summoned the minister of finance to answer questions on centralization of revenue collection and its impact on the state, Radio Bahita reported.

Jacob Kwiyasuk Gale of the Party listÊ said there was need to reject centralization of revenue collection in South Sudan.

Mr Kwiyasuk added that tax centralization policy undermines the national and state Transitional Constitutions.

State minister of Finance, Jacob Aligo LoÊ Lodu said since the taxes centralized, the national ministry of finance has not transferred any share of national revenue to Central Equatoria.

He revealed that centralization system affects only Central and Eastern Equatoria states.

Lo Lodu added that the purpose of centralization was to control the borders of Central and Eastern Equatoria States.

Many MPs blamed the minister of finance for signing the truce with the national ministry of finance before consulting the State Legislative Assembly.
