The journalists of Radio Easter, one of the Catholic Radio Network stations, are attending an eight-day workshop in Yei in a bid to reduce the death of mothers during child birth in South Sudan and of small babies.

BBC Media Action in South Sudan senior program manager Sulakshana Gupta told Radio Easter on Saturday that the training aims at equipping staff to produce good programs on mother and child health.

She said the number of deaths of mothers and babies is very high in South Sudan and good information can save lives by allowing people to make healthy decisions.

Ms Gupta called on listeners of Greater Yei to tune in and listen to the new programme of Radio Easter due to start in January for the benefit of all who want to save the lives of mothers and small children.

She asked listeners to support their community radio.

The eight-day training that started on Saturday follows similar exercises in Bakhita Radio in Juba, Voice of Love in Malakal and Good News in Rumbek.
