Wau county authorities say they plan to close illegal bars as they are destroying families and bringing a bad culture to the new nation.
Bars are becoming a major problem in Western Bhar el-Ghazal state as they are affecting people with drinking problems.Wau County Commissioner John Peter Miskin told Voice of Hope this morning that the county authorities are going to call on all those who rented their houses to make bars to stop their contracts.
He said locals rented private houses to foreign investors to set up night clubs.
Mr Peter said foreign investors are only concerned with making money and ignore cultural values.
He asked people to check if they are breaking the law by renting out private houses for other purposes.
Mr Peter said the government cannot accept business activities that do not care for the community.
He warned that if locals do not terminate contracts renting houses for illegal bars and night clubs police will close the premises by force.
Mr Peter told the citizens not to rent their houses as bars without consulting the rules and regulations set by the state physical infrastructure and housing ministry.
He urged citizens in the state to cooperate with the security organs to avoid crimes in bars and hotels.
