Sixty-six secondary students from Warrap state are participating in the national games competing in several disciplines.
Warrap state students, boys and girls, competed in athletics, basketball and volleyball and won against Unity, Central Equatoria and Western Equatoria.State minister for education Andrea Aguer Ariek told Voice of Hope that the ministry is promoting sports activities to help the students build their future.
He said the state gives training conditions and guidance to develop the students physically and mentally.
Mr Aguer said the aim of inter-secondary school national games is to allow students from the ten states of South Sudan to meet and know each other and promote unity.
He added the games are a way of combating tribalism and promoting national unity.
Mr Aguer thanked the parents who allowed their children to go to Rumbek to take part in the inter-secondary schools games.
He said the games are another step to make South Sudan known internationally as a sports powerhouse.
