A leading Kenyan commercial bank last week postponed the launch of its Torit, Nimule and Kaji Keji branches due to technical reasons.
Equity Bank Managing Director for South Sudan, Paul Gitahi, told Radio Emmanuel that the institution is to open branches in Torit and Nimule in Eastern Equatoria and Kaji Keji in Central Equatoria.He said the bank operates in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and South Sudan.
Mr Gitahi added that Equity Bank as a large customers base in South Sudan that makes the institution the leading bank in the country.
He said Equity Bank serves over 80 thousand customers that include individuals, civil servants, international organization, NGOs and small business people.
Mr Gitahi added that the face of Juba is changing with decent houses replacing traditional tukuls due to the loans civil servants take from Equity Bank.
Equity Bank Torit branch should open tomorrow.
Nile Commercial Bank was the first bank to operate in Eastern Equatoria, followed by Kenya Commercial Bank. Now Equity Bank joins the group.
