The Education Development Centre on Thursday handed over assets belonging to the South Sudan’s Interactive Radio Instruction project in Lakes to the State Ministry of General Education.
Senior Technical Adviser Saluwen Sanya said during the handover that the centre has entrusted one car, one motorbike, two laptops, a projector, a digital camera, a printer, an internet modem and some furniture among other assets.He pointed out that the documents accompanying the assets clearly stipulate the Ministry’s obligations as recipient.
Mr Sanya added that the Ministry will be expected to ensure that the resources are used to support the objectives of Interactive Radio Instruction in Lakes State.
He cautioned the Ministry against personalization of the assets, saying it would not be taken well by members of public.
Director General of the State Ministry of General Education, Agolder Alfred Mathok, assured the Education Development Centre that the resources will be used for programs within the Department of Alternative Education System in Lakes State.
He warned that the Ministry will not tolerate officials who attempt to use assets for private ends.
Mr Mathok expressed optimism that the country’s Education Act, which is in the pipeline, will address the challenge of teacher’s exodus to other better paid jobs.
Education Development Centre has been implementing the South Sudan Interactive Radio Instruction project with funding from USAID.
