The South Sudan national Bureau of Statistic has on Wednesday briefed stakeholders on the 2014 population and housing census.
The government of South Sudan is planning to undertake census in February 2014, Bakhita radio reported.Bureau Chairperson Isaiah Chol Aruai said that work plan, estimated budget and other assistance given by the United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA) are in place.
He said external supports are needed to meet all preparations for the 2014 population and housing census.
Mr Chol added that the UNFPA provided a team of consultant to help the Bureau in cartography, demography and data processing.
He said the workshop was to solicit the technical input from the stakeholders.
United Nations Population Fund representative Yisa Barnabas said the entire preliminary preparations are now being put in place.
He said the first step is to develop documents that will act as a road map to the 2014 census.
Mr Barnabas added that the documents will spell out time and the keys objectives that should be used before the enumeration take place.
Mr Barnabas said the consultants have made the consent of the census key stages including pre enumeration, enumeration and post enumeration.
He added that after reviewing the document, the Bureau will finalize and the government will adopt.
