Taxi drivers in Eastern Equatoria state have complained that drivers of government cars are grabbing some passengers to earn money.
Deputy Chairman of Omoliha Market Drivers Union, Mr. Juma Marijani Tongun said that government and non-governmental Organizations drivers also struggle over passengers by transporting them with low fare, Radio Emmanuel reported.Tongun said the taxi operators cannot say anything due to fear when the soldiers come to pick passengers at the park.
Tongun lamented that taxi drivers take several days to get passengers and spend money in lodges as well as feeding to survive in Torit town
He said government drivers charge low fares because they do not pay for fuel from their own money.
He added that the competition affects taxi operators who encounter the ever increasing fuel prices on daily basis to sustain their business.
No government driver was ready to comment on the accusation against them by the taxi operators.
