South Sudan Auditor General has on Monday presented to the National Legislative Assembly two reports on the Government of Southern Sudan financial statements for the years 2007 and 2008
The reports revealed appalling overspending in government institutions and incredible amount of money lost unaccounted for in both reports.2007 audit report revealed that the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs spent over 15, million US dollars out of the budget and exceeded its payroll expenditure by 202 percent.
It added that more than 7 million Sudanese pounds cash withdrawal was made but an accounted for.
Meanwhile the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly overspent 5 million US dollar on its payroll.
2008 audit report said about 1.136 billions Sudanese Pounds balances were held with various banks on December 31 at the end of the year.
And that at the same year end, cash balances in various ministries and agencies were not disclosed in the financial statements.

The reports were referred to specialized committeea for further scrutiny and discussion by the parliament.
