The Parish priest of Our Lady of Assumption Church in the Catholic Diocese of Torit has challenged President Salva Kiir Mayardit to expose the corrupt officials who were directed to return the 4 billion dollars they embezzled.
Fr. Martin Madrara said the President should reveal the names of the 75 corrupt officials to avoid people suspecting him being among the suspects.The priest added that the only government official who showed up that he is ready to defend himself could be the innocent one who knows his records.
Fr. Madrara called on citizens to condemn corruption and social injustices adding that the vices are worse that HIV/ AIDS and even cancer.
South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit announced two month ago that over 75 officials in the previous and current government had misappropriated more the 4 billion dollars.
The president directed the suspected officials to remit the money to an account opened for the purpose but did not give the names of the suspects.
