South Sudan’s Bright Star team drew 2-2 with Ugandan East and Central African regional champion’s team in the first anniversary independence match.

Ugandan player Caesar Okuthi scored the first goal in the seventh minute, but after some few minutes Richard Justin scored a draw goal through a penalty.

Uganda dominated against South Sudan and only some great saves from South Sudan’s goalkeeper, Jumma Genaro.

Julius Ogwang gave Uganda a 2-1 lead after 33 minutes after a mistake by Genaro, who fumbled the shot and allowed it to cross the line.

Three minutes before half-time South Sudanese player James Joseph punched Ugandan net for 2-2 draw with a fine header.

The second half was more evenly balanced and both sides failed to win the match.

The Ugandan assistant coach Leo Adra said he was satisfied with the result.

South Sudan’s coach Zoran Djordjevic expressed happiness to get a draw against the experienced Ugandan team.

This was South Sudan’s first officially recognized game since the country was admitted into the world governing body FIFA in Juba on Tuesday a day after the first independenceanniversary.
