LEADERS URGE CITIZENS TO PROMOTE PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT

Leaders have urged citizerns that there is need for the people of South Sudan to forget their differences and abandon the culture of violence for the sake of developing the one year old Nation.

The Deputy Chancellor of Rumbek University, Michael Maker Mangony made the remark during the celebrations of the first anniversary of the independence of South Sudan in Rumbek Freedom Square on Monday, Radio Good News reported.

Prof. Maker Mangony observed that the government can only have ample time to focus on service delivery and development when there is peace and stability in the country.

He said that he was shocked when he heard about the fighting in Lakes State’s Cueibet County.

He called on Lakes State residents to resist evil temptations and concentrate on activities that promote development.

Professor Mangony said there is need to take care of the new nation and the special gift of independence from God.

He encouraged the people to embrace positive thinking and good deeds that will enable South Sudan join the league of other developed nations such as the United States of America.

All the leaders in their remarks called for peace and stability in Lakes State and entire nation.

nd South Sudan amounts to 220 million US dollars but had received US45.9 million US dollars (US11.6 million US dollars for Ethiopia and US33.6 million US dollars for South Sudan), representing less than 21 per cent of estimated needs.
