Upper Nile University has celebrated a week of sports and cultural activities.

Both students and lecturers participated in the festival that took place at Malakal campus, Voice of Love reported.

The celebration under theme “Unity and Nation Building of the new nation through curriculum” happened during the midterm break week.

Lecturers played a football match against students and won 3-1.

Vice Chancellor Bol Deng appreciated teachers and students for making the first semester a success.

He underlined that President Kiir asked students to stop tribal conflicts in the universities.

Prof Bol said the university administration encouraged both lecturers and students to face whatever challenges they come across and aim for success until South Sudan stands strong in Africa and in the world.

He assured the students that he will not order the closure of the university though there are shortages of fuel and food in Malakal.

Prof Bol said lectures can continue even if there is no electricity in town.

He urged students to be ready for the second semester.

Prof Bol said he is sure and optimistic that the university will graduate the first batch of students in the new country this academic year.
