Traffic Police officers are hunting down unlicensed motorcycles and cars in a bid to reduce crimes committed by drivers and motorcyclists in Juba.

A Traffic Police officer told Bakhita Radio that many crimes in Juba are related to motorcyclists and drivers.

He said the campaign is aimed at reducing unregistered vehicles and pave the way to identify suspected drivers and motorists through their number plates.

Bakhita Radio witnessed number of cars and motorbikes packed around Juba’s Mobile Roundabout, with drivers asked to show registration logs.

A boda-boda rider said the campaign is biased because the police allow some vehicles without number plates to pass freely.

A similar exercise was carried out in Juba four months ago.

Last week, a senior Traffic Police officer said boda-boda riders will soon be demanded to have driving licenses.
