Civil society groups and faith based organizations are engaged in a four-day dialogue on the permanent Constitution in Torit.

John Opi, the coordinator for Justice and Peace in the Catholic Diocese of Torit, told Radio Emmanuel that chiefs, MPs and members of the Government were also invited to the workshop on the constitutional review process.

He added that the event is organized by the Civil Society Coalition, together with Justice Africa and the Catholic Diocese of Torit.

Fr Opi said the presenters dealt with many topics including historical factors that led to independence, what is a Constitution, and democracy, federalism and political structures.

He defined the Constitution as a house that accommodates everybody.

Fr Opi listed other topics still to be covered, especially the role of citizens in the constitutional review process and good governance.

He said chiefs, representatives of civil society organizations and faith groups are among 60 people attending the dialogue.

The conference ends tomorrow.
