The business community at Omoliha Market in Torit, Eastern Equatoria, has been asked to join hands to ensure security after the May 31 deadline for shop owners to stop sleeping in their shops.

Torit Commissioner William Oyet told Emmanuel Radio that security personnel were deployed to protect properties at Omoliha market, adding that safety is a collective effort.

Mr Oyet said the decree issued one month ago forbidding owners to sleep in their shops aims at improving security and sanitation at Omoliha market.

The commissioner appealed to the foreign business people to transform the communities for better through their example and commitment.

Mr Oyet urged all the citizens to work towards the improvement and development of Torit Town.

He added that whoever violates the laws will be fined 500 Pounds.

Mr Oyet called upon the Torit residents to clean their places as they joined the world today in commemorating Environment Day.
