WAU JUSTICE AND PEACE COMMISSION TO HOLD CONFERENCE ON CONSTITUTION

The Justice and Peace Commission in the Catholic Diocese of Wau is to conduct a two-day conference on the constitutional process and other important topics that concern the new nation.

Justice and Peace Director Natalina Mabu told Voice of Hope that the conference will tackle various topics, including the Constitution, Government structure and the Bill of Rights.

She explained that the meeting will examine the relationships that exist between government structures.

It also tackles how human rights are guaranteed in the Bill of Rights.

Customary law will also receive some attention during the workshop.

Ms Mabu said Constitutional Review Process is also studied in the conference together with the role of Churches and civil society.

She added that the participants will learn about the Social Teaching of the Church and how the Constitution protects the national resources.

Religious and traditional leaders, NGOs, women’s groups, local authorities, state ministers and the Governor are expected to attend the Justice and Peace Conference on Tuesday and Wednesday.
