The Yambio Centenary Commission is preparing to visit the parishes in the Western deanery from tomorrow to check on the ongoing preparations for the celebrations in the parishes of Mupoi, Tambura, Maringindo, Source Yubu and Ngboko.

The Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio started celebrating the Centenary of Evangelization on December 11, 2011, concluding it in Mupoi on December 12, 2012, 100 years after the Comboni Missionaries arrived in that parish.

The team will spend at least one day in each parish to know more about the preparations instructed by the Centenary Commission.

Deputy Chairperson for the Centenary Celebration Commission Monoko Leonne Rodolph told Anisa FM that the visit aims also at retrieving the first collection from the Centenary boxes that were distributed to the parishes.

The Archive Committee team will try to get more details from each parish about when the missionaries arrived in the area and record the total number of people baptized in each parish since its inauguration.

Mr Monoko said the visiting team will look at the traditional items which were used before the arrival of the missionaries to be exhibited during the Centenary Celebration.

The commission plans to visit the Eastern Deanery parishes of Rimenze, Ibba, Mangua and Maridi after finishing with the Western parishes.
