Any youth found hanging around will be arrested, recruited to the army and sent to the frontline to defend the country’s territorial integrity.
The warning comes from Matur Majok Magol, the commissioner of Rumbek Central County. He issued a local order, asking youth from cattle camps to stop lingering in Rumbek, playing games or stealing cattle.
Mr Majok told Good News Radio that the youth have to farm in order to feed the population.
Rumbek Central Commissioner explained that the new order will compel people to work hard because the Government is not able to feed all of them.
Mr Majok appealed to all able people to cultivate their land to boost food production and beat famine.
Lakes Governor Chol Tong Mayay last week declared Friday a half working day in the state, warning that idlers would be arrested and sent to work in Government demonstration farms.
