Wau Teaching Hospital celebrated Nurses’ Day with a thanksgiving service on Wednesday.

This year, the hospital instead of marking Nurses’ Day with a march, organized a Mass attended by students from different nursing schools, Voice of Love reported.

Fr Felix Fathul presided over the Eucharistic celebration and St. Mary’s Cathedral choir animated the service.

Fr Fathul said it was important to join the nurses as they celebrated their day since they are always taking care of people through their healing ministry.

He added that nursing is a vital element in the society as it fosters life.

Wau Teaching Hospital Director General James Ukelo said that nurses are an important part of the hospital and they play a big role in serving the community.

He stressed the importance of the nurses in the day-to-day life.

Dr Ukelo reminded those present that clinics and dispensaries can run without doctors but they cannot function without nurses.

The patients at Wau Teaching Hospital acknowledged the important role played by nurses while attending to them during the difficult moments of their sickness.
