About 15 to 20 cattle raiders Monday robbed three Bongo honey hunters who were on their way to Tonj to sell their produce.

Tonj South County Police Commissioner Joseph Mayiei Aru told Don Bosco FM that the incident happened when the three men were coming from Aguka to Tonj to sell the honey they collected.

One of the robbed men, George Ramadan, said the raiders opened fire on them and they ran to the forest leaving on the road three jerry cans of honey, clothes and three bicycles.

The raiders took with them the honey leaving the bicycles behind.

Chief John Njur of Aguka said the raiders were from Tonj and went to Gok area to raid cattle but were chased away by local youth.

He added that the frustrated raiders laid in ambush on the road and the three unfortunate men were the victims.

The incident took place at Aguka, some 30 kilometres from Tonj.
