RELIGIOUS LIFE PLAYS IMPORTANT ROLE IN NATION BUILDING

Women and men religious play an important role in the building of South Sudan.

Seventy religious from 30 congregations met for the first time in South Sudan earlier in the week to reflect how to promote reconciliation, justice and peace through their work.

Bruno Dada, the superior general of St Martin de Porres Brothers, told CRN that consecrated people contribute to nation building through their example and work in schools, health facilities and apostolate.

Georgina Victor, from the Sacred Heart Sisters, explained that the consecrated people they play an important role to bring about reconciliation, justice and peace among the communities after the long years of war.

Ninet Costa is a Salesian Sister from India directing the Malakal Teachers Training College. She said she felt challenged to transmit what she learned about reconciliation, justice and peace to the teachers so that they implement it with their students.

The three-day meeting, organized by Solidarity with South Sudan, was an occasion for sisters, brothers and priests to come together for the first time from different dioceses, congregations and nations working in South Sudan.
