The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has said today it is turning up gears to support small and medium businesses owned by local entrepreneurs.

Catherine Masinde is the Investment Climate Advisory Service for World Bank in South Sudan and Nigeria. She told reporters this afternoon in Juba that the agency was going to assist local business people in capacity building and micro-finance package.

She explained that the programme is intended to assist local businessmen and women to help their businesses succeed.

Ms Masinde revealed that IFC was helping South Sudan to develop laws to regulate public and private investment.

She added that her agency also helped South Sudan to register businesses accordingly.

Ms Masinde was speaking this afternoon ahead of the official visit of IFC Chief Executive Officer, Lars Thunell, to Juba tomorrow.
