The youth of Jonglei State has welcomed the resolutions from the Jonglei communities’ conference for peace, reconciliation and tolerance that concluded Saturday in Bor.
Jonglei sate minister for youth and sport, Baba Medan, told Bakhita Radio over the phone, that the youth from various communities welcomed the resolutions and congratulated the participants for reaching such an important deal.He said the youths need healing from trauma because they suffered under ethnic clashes that have lasted for many years in the Jonglei state.
Mr Medan said the peace forum offered an important opportunity to use sports to unify and occupy the youth in the state.
He said his ministry is going to construct playgrounds and open businesses for the youth to keep them busy and stop tribalism and inter-ethnic clashes.
He asked NGOs to assist his ministry.
Lack of basic services, including schools, health facilities, roads, water points, telecommunications, has been identified as one factor responsible for chronic conflict in Jonglei State.
