The Government of Japan has welcomed the UN Security Council resolution on the situation in South Sudan and Sudan.
The press secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Japan is calling the Governments of Juba and Khartoum to resume talks immediately to resolve all issues between the two countries.The UN resolution called for an immediate cessation of hostilities between the two countries.
The Security Council told Juba and Khartoum to resume talks on outstanding issues within two weeks facilitated by the African Union and assisted by IGAD, Intergovernamnetal Authority on Development.
