The international Committee of the Red Cross is helping South Sudan officials to understand the international humanitarian laws and institutions in order to incorporate those treaties and conventions into domestic legislation.

Umesh Kadam, the legal advisor for Red Cross, told Bakhita Radio that his organization is helping South Sudan to understand and accept international treaties such as the Geneva Convention and other humanitarian laws.

He said the Red Cross was supporting a debate between ministries and civil society groups to understand developments on international laws concerning human rights.

The seminar organized in Juba brought participants from various walks of life including government officials, and NGOs and civil society members.
