The Governor of Lakes State on Tuesday disclosed that the President of the Republic has ordered states bordering Sudan to mobilize and sensitize their people about the consequences of the rising tensions between the two armies.

Chol Tong Mayay told journalists that insecurity along the border was likely to affect Lakes State because of its proximity with Unity State, Good News Radio reported.

He said what was happening in Unity State was a war against South Sudan and urged the people of Lakes State to remain vigilant.

The Governor called on the youth to end internal conflicts, warning that those caught with illegal arms would be sent to the frontline instead of serving jail terms.

Engineer Tong appealed to residents to respect the Sudanese living in Lakes State.

He said they are allowed to continue with their businesses as foreign investors without any interference.

Engineer Tong reminded the people of Lakes State of the importance of investing in agriculture, terming it the only way to self sufficiency and sustainable food security.

He revealed that his farm is currently being cleared for cultivation.

Engineer Tong called on farmers to prepare their fields, warning that his Government will make use of idlers in demonstration farms to be established under the Ministry of Agriculture.
