The Office of Statistics in Wau yesterday launched a welfare survey monitoring program in collaboration with the main office in Juba and supported by Norwegian Board of Statistics.

The program is targeting nineteen bomas of Western Bahr El Ghazal, Radio Voice of Hope reported.

Fourteen officials will participate in the process, and they will be divided into two groups controlled by two supervisors who will report to a coordinator.

The director of statistics in Western Bahr El Ghazal Pons Ukola Pons said the program was supposed to be launched two weeks ago after the officials training.

He explained that it was postponed due to delay of forms and funding.

He said that the one-month program will select the targeted families randomly.

Mr Ukola explained the main objective of the survey is to collect data about education, health and the opinions on what is going on in the state.

Mr Ukola added that there are three fields of counting in Raja, one in Kata and seven in Jur River County. He said, eighteen families will be picked from each boma with the help of the chiefs.

The director appealed to the selected people to answer freely and without fear, because their statements will be confidential.

342 families from the State will be targeted in 19 bomas.

All collected information will be sent to Juba for analysis and study to frame a good economic plan for the country.
