A police chief in Kumbur sector of Nuba Mountains said that most of the crimes committed in the community are social problems connected with marriage and the youth.
Nur Jalil Kuku Al-Bashir said that most of the problems he has encountered were problems among boys and girls.He said that since the beginning of the year most of the problems reported to the police involved marriage issues.
Mr Jalil stated that the problems of marriage are caused by the parents who demand high dowries for their daughters.
He voiced his deep concerns to the parents and all the chiefs of different localities to look into the issue of dowry payments.
Mr. Jalil said lack of counselling and earlier marriage lead many youths to marriage irresponsibilities.
