Wau County authorities have raised concern over the alarming rise in alcohol-related crimes in the state.

The area court says that 80 percent of cases are related to alcohol, including killings, rape, adultery and theft.

John Yel, Wau Court Area Judge, lamented to Radio Voice of Hope the rate at which alcohol related crimes are infiltrating the judiciary in Wau.

Justice Yel said most crimes are practiced by young people aged between 13 and 17.

The rate of criminality among women is very low.

Justice Yel asked the State Assembly to regulate the consumption of alcohol in the state.

He lamented that bars are spread through the town and indiscriminate drinking accelerates criminality.

Justice Yel called for a collective effort to curb alcoholism in the state.
