An official from an Austrian-based charity has urged South Sudanese to invest in education to realize sustainable development and maintain peace.
Claudia Vitt is the desk officer for DKA-Austria, responsible for South Sudan and Uganda. She told Good News Radio that South Sudanese should prioritize formal education and capacity building.She called on South Sudanese to remain focused on the path of development with patience, cultivating and maintaining the attitude of peace.
Ms Vitt observed that last year people were full of excitement and enthusiasm due to independence.
She added that people have cooled down due to the many challenges they are facing, including the high cost of living.
Ms Vitt commended the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek for the successful implementation of the programs her organization supports, including health services, education and Good News Radio.
She said people were very committed to their work.
She pledged that DKA-Austria and the Diocese of Rumbek will continue working together.
