A Lou-Nuer youth militia is using guns and bullets from both the SPLA and a rebel group.
Small Arms Survey, a Swiss-based research group, yesterday disclosed a study suggesting that weapons and bullets used by Lou-Nuer attackers in Pibor last December may have come from George Athor’s rebels and from the SPLA stores.Chinese made Kalashnikovs and rocket propelled grenades used by the attacking Lou Nuer were identical to late Athor’s weaponry while a kind of old Chinese bullets found in the ground matches with those used by the SPLA.
The report suggests that the so called White Army got its weapons from both Athor’s rebels √ɬê also operating in Jonglei √ɬê and the army.
