Forceful demolitions have forced some families to settle at one of Juba’s cemeteries.
Angelo Kenyi, a residence at Konyo-konyo cemetery, told CRN today that one person came to his house and told him to leave the place because the plot belonged to him.He said he told the person not to chase him like an animal and they were both Mundari people.
He called on his family to move to the graveyard near the tombs where his brother and sister are buried.
Mr Kenyi said the person said he bought the plot and he wanted to build a factory and make good money with the land.
He added that if there was a real government, then there was no need that the government should sit and watch his people going to sleep at the graveyard.
Cecilia Kaku said she was evicted from the place where she used to stay and she was forced to live at the cemetery too.
She added that the government should see where to allocate them or give them assistance because they settled in the cemetery because they survive on petty jobs in the Konyo-Konyo market.
Ms Kaku said they are not happy with poverty.
She added that they need food.
Mr Kenyi said he shares his small hut in the graveyard with ten people and the sun is biting them because there is no shade in the area.
