Negotiating teams representing South Sudan and Sudan have adopted a new approach to resolve the pending post independent issues between the two countries in a fraternal manner.

South Sudan’s chief negotiator Pagan Amun Okech told the press yesterday in Juba after his arrival from Addis Ababa that negotiators agreed to adopt new spirit based on the mutual interests of both countries.

He explained that progress was difficult because both teams based their negotiations on confrontation.

He said the two teams agreed to use discussions and positive thinking to resolve the remaining outstanding issues in the spirit of partnership and mutual interests.

Mr Amum revealed that the new approach helped South Sudan and Sudan draft two agreements on border demarcation and protection of citizens of each nation in the other state.

He added that problems of South Sudan and Sudan can be solved through mutual understanding.

Mr Amum said the negotiating teams should focus on nation and state building and economic development to achieve prosperity.

He concluded that President Omar Al Bashir will visit South Sudan at the invitation of President Salva Kiir to sign the two agreements on border demarcation and citizenship reviving better relations between the two states.
