The President of the Republic attended the signing of Western Bahr El Ghazal State Transitional Constitution yesterday morning together with the Governor’s swearing-in.
Hundreds of participants gathered at Wau Stadium to witness to the signing of the Constitution by governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan, Radio Voice of Hope reported.Mr Zachariah took the oath of allegiance and promised better security and development in Western Bahr El Ghazal.
Salva Kiir Mayardit hailed the achievements of the state government in drafting the local Constitution and encouraged all to respect the Charter.
Commenting on territorial disputes, especially in the areas of Greater Bahr El Ghazal, President Kiir said that the South will never come to any agreement if Khartoum insists on of annexing the territories of South Sudan.
President Kiir added that he invited President Omar al Bashir to come to Juba to discuss the borders issue but he sent his militias instead.
The president remarked that Sudanese who are in the South should receive South Sudanese nationality even if the Government of Khartoum does not do the same to Southerners living in the Sudan.
President Kiir asked Southerners not to harass Sudanese people living among them.
The president called on all South Sudanese to unite in order to combine efforts for transformation and nation building.
The governors of Warrap and Northern Bahr El Ghazal, Nyandeng Malik and Paul Malong Awan, and the deputy governor of Eastern Equatoria Nartisio Loluke were among other dignitaries attending the occasion.
