Police are investigating a man detained for allegedly stealing cattle at Bolore Boma of Torit County.
Imone Osuru Olia from Loronyo has been accused by the villagers of Bolore Boma and arrested on Monday with nine heads of cattle.Four members managed to escape arrest.
Area Chief Magisto Omuda told Radio Emmanuel that he received information on the theft of the cattle and he tipped off the security to arrest the suspects.
Chief Magisto added that the suspect claims to have received the cattle from unidentified people who asked him to keep the animals at home.
He discloses that the suspect was arrested for failing to produce a letter authorising the movement of cattle.
Torit County Commissioner Felix Otuduha Siro strongly condemned cattle rustling.
He said it was time for South Sudanese to live in peace.
Mr Otuduha urged the chiefs in Torit County to take to the task of ensuring that anyone found moving with cattle should have letter of authorisation from area authorities.
He called on citizens to be vigilant and report suspected criminals.
