The Mayor of Juba has promised to pay from his own pocket the salaries of two cleaners for the Juba Orphanage and repair the kitchen.

Mohammed Alhaj Babala said he and his family will pay every month 600 pounds to employ two cleans at the Juba orphanage.

He said the workers had to take care of the children and could not keep the compound clean.

The Mayor added that his commitment will be carried on by his son after he dies.

Mr Babala also promised to rehabilitate the kitchen of the orphanage with his own money.

He said his contribution is a personal humanitarian initiative.

Mr. Babala said he could not make such a commitment from his office because his successor may refuse to pay the two cleaners employed by him.

The Mayor of Juba was speaking this morning at the celebration of the World Thinking Day organized by Girl Guides at Juba Orphanage.
