Tonj Civil Hospital has registered a dozen cases of HIV AIDS infections in February alone.
Peter Deng Kuch, a medical assistant at Tonj Civil Hospital, told Don Bosco FM that the health facility registered 12 cases of HIV this month.He said the HIV patients were referred to Wau hospital for antiretroviral treatment.
Mr Deng stated that the virus spreads through polygamy, widows’ inheritance and sharing of sharp objects.
He urged citizens to stop sharing of knives and other sharp objects and abstain from sex if they are single, be faithful to their partners or use a condom.
Mr Deng told people not to intimidate or laugh at HIV patients but care for them.
