A senior nun from the Sisters of the Sacred Heard died yesterday in Juba after a long illness.
Sister Barbara Ihanga, in her eighties, passed away in the community residence at Saint Joseph’s parish.Sr Patricia Edea told Bakhita Radio that her congregation deeply regretted and felt Sr Barbara’s death.
She said the fruit of Sr Barbara’s hard work is seen and recognized by everybody.
She added that Sr Barbara was always praying during her struggle with the disease for more than one year.
Sr Patricia explained that Sr Barbara’s death left a wide gap in the congregation.
She said she hopes that God will bring somebody with good qualities to take the Sr Barbara’s place.
Sr Patricia asked Sr Barbara to intercede for the sisters to continue serving God and his people.
Sr Barbara was among the first four sisters consecrated in the congregation of the Sacred Heard in 1954.
All the four are now dead.
The remains of Sr Barbara will be buried tomorrow in Rejaf Cemetery after a memorial mass at Saint Joseph’s parish church.
