The main road leading out of Southern Kordofan into Unity State was reopened yesterday after SPLA-North forces defeated Sudanese soldiers and took control of Jau and Toroje.

Yuwel Adam, who is the Transport officer in Kauda, Nuba Mountains, said the road was blocked for almost two weeks due to clashes between SAF and SPLA-North forces.

He thanked the SPLM-North for kicking SAF out of the main road and allowing movements along the critical road to resume.

Mr Adam explained that some trucks with much needed food were able to reach Kauda yesterday after the road was reopened.

He also alerted parents who want to send their children to study in Yida Refugee Camp in Unity State that the road is re-opened.

The officer added since yesterday there was a bus carried the displaced to Yida Camp and there were some who have travelled also today.

Mr Adam said there were some passengers that came from Bentiu and told him the way was secure along Jau and Toroje although there was some fighting far from the main road.

The officer said over 40 people travel from Nuba Mountains to Yida every day.
