Teachers at the emblematic Rumbek National Secondary School vowed to start a go-slow on Monday if their January salary is not deposited at the school’s bank account.
Head teacher Abel Manyuon Jok told Good News Radio that his colleagues decided to start a sit-in of Monday if they did not get their January pay.He said he went to Juba to request the ministry of general education to give him the teachers’ salaries for January but he was told to go back empty-handed.
The Director of Lakes Employees Justice Chamber Joseph Akot Mabor voiced concern over the delay of teachers’ salaries terming the act as gross violation.
He added that Araamwer Teachers’ National Institute in Rumbek did not get December and January salaries.
Mr Mabor assured the teachers that his office will take the matter with due seriousness.
He clarified that the national Government claims to be responsible for Rumbek National Secondary School.
For now the teachers can only expect that their voices will be heard and the salaries come to their pockets.
