A delegation from Central Equatoria Workers Trade Union visited the office of the Commissioner of Juba County to complain about lack of promotions and arrears payments in the state.
Union official Wani Bini told Commissioner Thomas Peter Ladu that Central Equatoria State workers did not receive yet the arrear salaries for 2009.He also complained that the downsize exercise delayed the payment of salaries and confused the appointment and promotion systems in the state.
Commissioner Ladu said the government reduced the workforce to pay only to those who work.
He added that the Governor of Central Equatoria, Clement Wani Konga, has already instructed the state finance minister to pay the 2009 salaries arrears.
He said the Trade Union chairperson never informed the workers that the arrears for 2009 were being paid.
Mr Bini, who headed the delegation on behalf of his boss, said the Union is part and parcel of the development wheel in Central Equatoria government.
